JLab Audio hit another out of the park home run on this product. The Crasher Slim rugged Bluetooth speaker is ultra portable and extremely durable. Included are some very useful features that are wonderful for everyday music listening and can even work well a business user on the road.
The Crasher Slim retails for a very affordable price of $59. Inside the box you will find your typical quick start guide, USB charging cable and then the speaker itself. As far as compatibility goes, Bluetooth 4.0 was used which gives you up to 40 ft of distance between the speaker and your device. Even so, there are times when interference seemed to cut that distance down to about 10 feet. Note that this is not unheard of, though, for any wireless device to suffer from the issues that interference causes from time to time.
The speaker has earned the IPX4 splash-proof rating which means you can use this outside near the poolside while enjoying your margaritas or summer beverage of choice. I would not recommend submerging the speaker, but it could take a few splashes of water.
An awesome feature was the built in mic which in my opinion was a large selling point. I myself do a lot of work from home for my day job and find that I can hold conference calls on this speaker without losing audio quality. The person on the other side of the call could hear me with ease. This is an amazing feature for those long calls without having to hold a phone to your ear and providing an alternative to using a pair of headphones with an inline mic.
The most important aspect of a speaker is sound quality. Don’t get me wrong – the JLabCrasher Slim doesn’t have the deep low range (bass), but I would not expect that from a small travel speaker in the first place. You can hear the very rich quality sound in the mid and high ranges with just enough depth to let you know there is some bass. And for such a small speaker this thing gets very loud and does not suffer from muffling at the high volume levels.
The build quality feels very top notch. The full metal body was used for durability in mind. Very typical of speakers is a rubber pad on the bottom to keep it from sliding around on almost any surface. A few very stylish color offerings are provided. I went with the blue color, also offered is a gunmetal color. You will also enjoy listening to your music for well up to 10 hours on a charge. I have been using mine for over a week here and there without charging yet.
I feel this would be the perfect choice speaker for anyone looking to buy a travel sized wireless speaker and not break the bank at the same time. You will get hours of listening time out of this speaker and should enjoy it as much as I have so far. If you want to pick this speaker up for yourself you can find it on the JLab Audio online store or in the JLab Amazon store.
