With many companies such as Apple choosing to remove the classic 3.5mm headphone jack from their future devices, wireless headphones have increased in popularity. One of the best selling models currently on the market, the TT-BH07 released in 2015, are from TaoTronics.
When it comes to in-ear headphones, comfort is key and these fit neatly in my ear and felt secure when moving around, ideal for running or other more physical activities. Smaller and larger plugs are included so no matter what size your ear-hole you shouldn’t have a problem finding a size that ensures good sound without becoming an irritation. The added rest also helps guide them into the correct position.
Whilst the overall design is nothing unique, I appreciate a product that is satisfied with a simple look in order to focus on more important features. It actually benefits from its subtle aesthetic meaning you don’t look too silly when wearing them. The built-in control is easy-to-use and doesn’t feel too cumbersome hanging from the right ear plug. My initial assumption would be the additional weight on one side would be very annoying, but the control strip is light weight enough to not be noticeable. The added magnetised strip on the back of the ear plugs is also a welcome feature ensuring they stay safely around your neck when not in use.
Sound is of a very high quality, with a crisp bass. Considering the price at £20.00 I can’t say I was expecting much, but to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. The noise-cancelling is top-notch doing a commendable job at blocking outside sounds. Having said that, I would advise being careful if you are intending to use them when out and about as you genuinely cannot hear a thing which could prove hazardous.
I did have issues when trying to pair the headphones to a device. Referring to the instruction manual, it clearly states to hold down the multi-function button for 5 seconds until the LED indicator flashes red and blue. Then you activate the bluetooth on your device. However, I was not getting red and blue flashing, just blue. Looking online I found other users who had the same issue, and they had figured out that the device’s bluetooth needs to be activated before switching on the headphones. A simple problem to solve, but one that could have easily been avoided.
The headphones come with a variety of accessories on top of the different sized plugs, two sets of ear rests of varying sizes, a ridiculously short USB charger cable and a soft case. Whilst I appreciate the inclusion of a case, I would have preferred a hard case as the headphones themselves seem rather fragile and a soft case wouldn’t do much to protect them.
Overall the TaoTronics TT-BH07 are one of the best selling models of wireless headphones for a reason. Good sound, comfortable fit at a great price, these are headphones that would satisfy anyone.
