For the first time in the series, GTA V on next-gen consoles will feature a first-person mode, it was confirmed today.
IGN today revealed that players would be able to play GTA V on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in first-person mode compared to the traditional third-person perspective it always has been.
“It’s a very intense, in-your-face experience… literally,” said Animation Director, Rob Nelson.
“Obviously, we felt like one of the most compelling things you could do to make an experience people have had before feel different was the new first-person mode.
“We’ve always been interested in it, but it’s never really been an option for us. I don’t think we could’ve put it in the [last-gen version] because we were too busy making the game. We were too busy working on our third-person controls and the missions.
“We were out of memory on the old consoles for animations. We were constantly fighting about what we could have and what we could still push in, and what other areas you could steal memory back from the animation.
“We weren’t sure the world would have held up the way we would’ve wanted it to.”
Announced during E3 in June, next-gen GTA V will also feature a new level of detail including draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions.
All content released since the game’s release last year will be included and players will be able to transfer over their GTA Online characters to their choice of PS4, Xbox One, or PC.
Radio stations will also be updated and a video editor will be included in the PC edition.
All players who have previously purchased the record-breaking action-adventure title will be rewarded with exclusive items, activities and rewards if they buy a next-gen edition.
It will be released on November 18th for PS4 and Xbox One and January 27th for PC.
