The next instalment in Rockstar Game’s Red Dead series could possibly be announced and/or released this year, according to a research firm.
According to a report by research firm, Baird Equity Research, (via VG24/7), the next instalment in the critically acclaimed western is expected this year whilst a next-gen console port of Grand Theft Auto V, and a PC version, is also expected.
“Take Two continues to produce some of the highest-quality console and PC games, which we believe should transition well on next-gen platforms,” said analyst Colin Sebastian.
“We expect product announcements over the next year such as extending GTA V to other platforms (e.g., PC, next-gen consoles), the next Red Dead, etc., to help improve revenue and earnings visibility. In addition, the company has significant potential to grow digital/onnline revenues, which should help improve gross margins and add visibility to growth.”
“We expect PC version of GTA V in 2014 …. We also believe the next Red Dead game is in the works potentially for a 2014 launch.”
Rockstar have yet to announce their next project since the phenomenally successful launch of Grand Theft Auto V on September 17th. The company does not comment on rumours or upcoming video games they have yet to announced.
Back in November 2011, shortly after GTA V was announced, Rockstar co-founder and Vice President of Creativity, Dan Houser told Gamasutra, that once Max Payne 3, which released in 2012, was out the way the studio would possibly look into a potential sequel to the 2006 smash hit Bully.
He said: “So we knew that we didn’t want to start doing the Bully sequel instantly at that second with [Rockstar Vancouver], even though it is a property that, like Max, we adore and might come back to in the future. There was just no impetus to do that then. So we said, ‘You can do Max, and then we will see what we can do with Bully.'”
In July, Rockstar renewed the the Bully trademark.
