Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving are rumoured to be in talks to appear in Star Wars: Episode VII. The speculation comes from The Hollywood Reporter which states the director J.J. Abrams met with Fassbender to discuss an unspecified role. Hugo Weaving is also being considered for a role as an Imperial Commander in the film.
This would be great casting if the rumours turn out to be true. Both Fassbender and Weaving are excellent actors and it would be very cool to see them appear in a Star Wars movie. Weaving in particular is very good at playing aloof characters and he would be perfect as an Imperial officer. Abrams is apparently also interested in casting Adam Driver in an unspecified role. Driver is a popular guy right now as he has also been rumoured to appear in the new Batman vs. Superman film.
There is also speculation that Star Wars: Episode VII will focus on characters from the previous films such as Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. This will please fans of the series and give them a chance to see how those characters have developed over the years. R2-D2 was the first character to be officially cast in the movie so that confirms the droids will return for this sequel. Hopefully Chewbacca will also be cast as he is another fan favorite character.
Star Wars: Episode VII will be out on December 18, 2015.
