Hello Dear Roobla Fans,
As the new Chief Editor of this glorious site, I felt it would be a good idea to start this blog in order to keep you all updated on the developments here at Roobla HQ. One of the key things I want to bring to the site is a strong sense of communication between our team and you the reader/viewer. We are here to cater to your needs when it comes to news, reviews and features on your favourite subjects and we’re always open to feedback so we can improve your experience. Through this blog I will report on what’s new and give you the chance to have your say.
But first how about a little about myself so you can get to know the Chief Editor. Ever since I can remember I’ve been in love with cinema. My parents told me, as a child when sat in front of a film I was silent, lost in the world I was staring at, nothing has changed. For the past few years I’ve even gone so far as to start writing my own scripts in the hope one day I’ll be watching my own film in the cinema.
With an interest in all areas Roobla has to offer I joined the team in the November of 2014 when I posted my first article about terrible VHS covers. After a few more features and reviews I started a series for the TV section called ‘Remembering…’ looking back at some of the most memorable and influential television series of days gone by. Looking for a change of pace and a new challenge I turned to videos producing Roobla’s first original content for our Youtube channel. This saw me become the site’s Video Editor.
Whilst I still currently produce videos for the site my friend and I also started a comedy podcast called ‘Movie Madness with Tom and Jonno’. Each episode we look at a different film, discuss it and pitch our own sequel. You’ll find all episodes on the site so I urge you to please check it out sometime. (You can even subscribe to it on iTunes)
Two years on from that first article and I was asked to take over the reigns and take Roobla to new heights. So what’s changed since I took on the gauntlet? We now have new subject editors, Ed Dixon in Sport, Tom Wickens in Tech, Ben McCarthy in TV and Ryan Lunn in Music who join our already established editors Dan Green and Jamie Press in Film and Gaming respectively. With a full team of fantastic editors each area should now stay flush with regular content giving you reason to visit us more often.
A couple of articles I’d like to draw your attention to this month. Tom Wickens’ article on artificial intelligence will definitely make you think about our future and Dean West’s review of Watchdogs 2 which may help those who were disappointed with the first instalment to decide whether to return.
And for Asterix fans out there we have a great new competition to win one of two copies of his new animated feature Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods on DVD.
We’re planning new ideas everyday for the site and will update as and when they are launched, but for now if you have any feedback you’d like to send our way email us here or if you’d like to join our team then head over here.
Kind Regards,
Tom Batt
Chief Editor
