The newly announced Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will shift from it’s traditional third-person perspective to a first-person view to deliver an “innovative, immersive, and visceral horror”.
Unveiled during E3, the next major entry in the renowned Resident Evil series will shift it’s viewpoint adventures to a more photorealistic style to show developer Capcom’s new RE Engine, making the game the first ever major Resident Evil title to be played in first-person.
The game will be set in modern day rural America and takes place following the dramatic events of Resident Evil 6.
“Resident Evil 7 embodies the series’ signature gameplay elements of exploration and tense atmosphere that first coined ‘survival horror’ some twenty years ago; meanwhile, a complete refresh of gameplay systems simultaneously propels the survival horror experience to the next level,” read a Sony press release.
“Powered by the RE Engine in tandem with industry leading audio and visual technologies, Resident Evil 7 is poised to deliver a disturbingly realistic experience that will define the next era in horror entertainment.”
The title will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC worldwide on January 24, 2017.
