Uncharted 4 “most likely” to be last game in series

Uncharted 4 is “most likely” to be the final instalment in the series, according to one of the game’s designer.

Robert Cogburn, Lead Multiplayer Designer, spoke with Gamespot recently and he said the fourth instalment in highly acclaimed action-adventure series would “most likely” be the last.

“We as a studio feel that this will probably be the last Uncharted game we do,” said Cogburn before adding: “Who knows?”

Cogburn isn’t the first person working on Uncharted 4 to believe the fourth instalment is the last entry. Lead actor Nolan North, who portrays Nathan Drake, also previously said he believed the game to be the final outing for Nathan Drake.

We’ve reached out to Naughty Dog for comment – so far no word back.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End begins three years following the end of the events of Uncharted 3, which Drake has settled down with his new wife Elena. But his life is thrown into chaos his elder brother assumed dead, Sam, returns.

Sam tells Drake that they must find a legendary pirate artefact as his life hangs in the balance. The two then journey to Libertaria, a pirate colony in Madagascar, in search of the artefact but come across two other rivals, Rafe and Nadine, also trying to find the artefact.

First revealed in November 2013, the title was officially announced back in June 2014 during Sony’s E3 conference.

The Last of Us writer and director, Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, are currently leading the project following numerous staff changes at Naughty Dog.

Originally scheduled for a release in 2015, the title was previously delayed until 2016 to give developers Naughty Dog more time to enhance the game’s development

It will now release on March 18th, 2016 exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
