A sprained knee doesn’t sound very ‘James Bond’, does it? But Daniel Craig’s injury has prevented him filming new scenes for Spectre, and there are real fears the movie is falling behind schedule ahead of its October 23 release date.
The 46-year-old actor hurt himself during a stunt at Pinewood Studios last week and was expected to make a quick recovery. But bosses are now worried that the damage is worse than first feared.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Daniel’s injury is a real concern. Missed deadlines are a nightmare in the film world as it pushes everything back. Then not all the iconic locations can be rebooked easily or quickly.”
“In two weeks filming is due to switch to Rome and bosses fear Daniel’s recovery may mean they have to plan around their main star. It’s certainly not ideal.”
The latest chapter in the spy franchise is being directed by Sam Mendes, who has brought forward filming for scenes that don’t involve Craig, amid fears that the release could be delayed.
Despite the bad news, we were still treated to a first look at Spectre, and it’s certain to whet the appetite. Feast your eyes on this:
