Bandai Namco Games Europe have announced that their retro-inspired reboot Shadow Warrior is to be released for next-gen console this September.
Based on the 1997 first-person shooter of the same name, the reboot – which originally released in 2013 online only – will be released via retail stores on September 26th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
It tells the story of Zilla Enterprises’ corporate shogun, Lo Wang, who is ordered by his employer to track down and acquire a legendary blade.
“Our fans have been very vocal about bringing Shadow Warrior to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One so we’re absolutely thrilled to be working with our friends at Bandai Namco to have Wang bring a sword to a gunfight,” said Fork Parker, CFO at Devolver Digital, the game’s developer.
The next-gen edition will see high quality reshaped graphics and exclusive content, including: a new arena mode, where Wang faces waves of enemies in 3 designed environments, an all-new campaign, and exclusive weapons.
“To follow-up with its tradition of distributing very high quality games to the market, Bandai Namco Games Europe teams up with Devolver Digital to bring a highly-praised game onto the new generation consoles,” said Alverto Gonzalez Lorca, Vice President of 3rd Parties and Business Development, Bandai Namco Games Europe.
