Warners Bros. today announced that a video game adaptation of The Hobbit trilogy will launch this Friday.
Along with TT Games and The LEGO Group, Warner Bros’ LEGO: The Hobbit will available on April 11th in the UK for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 as well as Nintendo 3DS, PC and Nintendo Wii U.
The game is based on the first two instalments of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, two of which – An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug – have already been released whilst the third and final film – There and Back Again – will release this December.
To coincide with the third film, extra content is currently planned for release at a future date.
“The LEGO: The Hobbit videogame gives LEGO and Middle-earth fans of all ages a fun, new way to experience the legendary adventures of Bilbo and Company as told in the first two films of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit Trilogy,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games.
“There is no better way for parents to share the beloved and classic tale told in The Hobbitfilms with their kids than with LEGO: The Hobbit videogame, in which they can discover, explore, and build their way through Middle-earth together like never before.”
Players will be able to play as Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf and the Dwarves of Erobor with 16 levels to navigate, more than 90 unlockable playable characters, and key locations from the films.
