Warner Bros. have announced the casting choices for their live-action 3D “Tarzan” movie. The announcement, made Tuesday, has named Alexander Skarsgard, Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz amongst the cast.
True Blood star Skarsgard will take on the king of the jungle, with Wolf of Wall Street actress Robbie playing opposite him as love interest Jane Porter. Jackson and Waltz’s role are currently unknown.
Harry Potter director David Yates will take the helm, adapting the film from Edgar Rice Burroughs’ book. Jerry Weintraub, who previously worked on the Ocean’s Eleven trilogy, will produce, alongside David Barron, Alan Riche and Peter Riche.
Sue Kroll, the president of worldwide marketing and international distribution at Warner Bros., said “Tarzan has been an enduring and enigmatic figure in literature and cinema for more than a century. The adventures of a man who was torn between two worlds has entertained and intrigued people young and old, and we are excited to bring him to the screen for a new generation.”
The film is due out in U.S cinemas on July 1st 2016.
