The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has a third trailer circulating online which reveals some nice details.
Bilbo and the Dwarves are shown attempting to evict Smaug the dragon from the Dwarven kingdom of Erabor. Luke Evans who plays Bard the Bowman also gets a bit more screen time and his home town known as Lakewood is also shown. He warns the Bilbo and his companions not to disturb the dragon as he fears it will go on a rampage. Evangeline Lilly and Orlando Bloom also get more screen time as Tauriel and Legolas who decide to join the Dwarves on their quest.
The trailer is action packed and suitably epic so fans will not be disappointed. It also contains a few teaser shots which hint at some dramatic new events in the film. Some new creatures are also revealed including giant spiders and the return of Azog the orc from the previous film. A new McGuffin is also revealed called the Arkenstone which is an artifact Thorin needs to acquire in order to become king of Erabor. This is an item Bilbo must steal for the Dwarves and this turns out to be the main reason he was recruited for such a grand adventure.
The Desolation of Smaug appears to be more epic in scale than its predecessor and it could turn out to be a better movie. All the trailers released thus far have done an admirable job at revealing snippets of information without spoiling too much which is great.
The movie will be out on December 13th, 2013. Check out the trailer and share your thoughts.
