The long anticipated sequel to Red Dead Redemption has been delayed until 2018, Rockstar Games announced this evening.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was originally set to for a Autumn 2017 launch but the studio this evening announced via their website that the open world western title would be delayed until Spring 2018.
The studio say the delay is due to the game being the first Rockstar title “to be created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware” and some “extra time” is required to “deliver the best experience possible.”
“We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready,” read the statement.
The studio promised to release more details of the highly anticipated sequel to the 2010 original this summer and also released new screenshots of the game, as shown below.
