The title race is down to just two teams. Leaders Leicester City have a five point advantage over closest challengers Tottenham Hotspurs. With four games left to play- the race for the Premier League crown is on! Which team are now the favourites to finish the season as champions?
Leicester City’s remarkable season could reach new heights in a few weeks time, if they are crowned champions of England. However with Leicester only claiming a point at the weekend against West Ham United, and Tottenham Hotspurs impressive victory away to Stoke City, the gap at the top has been closed. It is now down to just five points. Can Leicester hold on to top position until the end? Or will Mauricio Pochettino’s men overtake their rivals during the final four games left to play?

While it is Leicester who lead the way, Tottenham are the team with the momentum. The London club have been brilliant recently, demolishing both Manchester United and Stoke City respectively. If they can maintain their impressive form, they will heap huge pressure on Leicester.
Leicester will feel confident that they can do the unthinkable, and lift the Premier League trophy come the end of the season. With four games remaining, three wins would be enough to secure the title for Claudio Ranieri’s men. The players have handled the pressure incredibly well so far this season. Can they continue to do so for the remaining four games?
Remaining Fixtures
Leicester
Swansea (h)
Manchester United (a)
Everton (h)
Chelsea (a)
Leicester face a difficult run-in to end their campaign. The next game at home against Swansea City is certainly winnable, but the pressure will be on, as Tottenham will be determined to close the gap once more. The suspension of Leicester’s main goal threat, Jamie Vardy, could also play a big part. Vardy has been fantastic this season, his pace and goalscoring ability will certainly be missed.
Away trips to Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge are also difficult fixtures. Manchester United are fighting for fourth place, and a return to Champions League football next season. While Chelsea will want to end their disappointing campaign with a win in front of their own supporters. Leicester’s final home game of the season, against Everton, could also be tricky.
Tottenham
West Brom (h)
Chelsea (a)
Southampton (h)
Newcastle (a)
Tottenham have the easier remaining fixtures on paper. The way they have been playing, they will expect to beat West Bromich Albion at home. No team in the Premier League have been playing as good as Tottenham recently. If they do win their next game, the pressure on Leicester will increase once more.
Then they have to face Chelsea. The Chelsea players and supporters won’t want their rivals to win the league. That could add extra incentive , making it a tough task for Tottenham to come away with all three points. If they are to win the league, they need to beat Southampton and Newcastle United. The final game of the season away at Newcastle will be difficult, especially if Newcastle have to win to avoid relegation.
Conclusion
As we have witnessed so far this season, anything can happen in the Premier League. Leicester are still favourites to claim the title. A five point advantage with just four games to go is a healthy lead to have. Although if Leicester do slip up, Tottenham will be ready to pounce.
If Leicester can win their remaining two home games that should be enough to secure them their first ever Premier League title. For Tottenham to realistically have any chance of finishing top, they can’t afford to lose any of their remaining games. At Least three wins are required.
It will be a thrilling finale in the race for the title. The pressure will mount on both sides. It will come down to which team copes with that pressure the best. Leicester have been unbelievable all season, they deserve to win the title. I think they will do it, although I expect more twist-and-turns from now until the end of the season.
