The first proper trailer for Game of Thrones season 5 is here, and we’re getting just a tad excited about it. The show won’t hit the small screen until April this year, so until then grab yourself some salted bread, start making wedding plans, and see if your ten favourite things about the new trailer match up with ours.
1. Obviously we’re loving the choice of soundtrack
TV on the Radio’s spooky cover of David Bowie’s Heroes.
2. Bearded Tyrion
Yep, he’s still just about clinging to life, and now he’s got a beard to boot. We didn’t think Tyrion could get any more awesome, but there you have it.
3. Badass Sansa
We get quite a few glimpses of Sansa in her new hardcore incarnation, which hopefully suggests she’s going to get a lot of screen time this season.
4. The Sand Snakes
You’ll know who they are if you’ve read the books, if not then you’re in for a poisonous treat.
5. Snakes in general
There’s snakes in every corner of this trailer if you look closely enough, suggesting a heavy Dornish presence this season – are we going to see some vengeance for Oberyn?
6. Olenna Tyrell/Diana Rigg
She’s only in it for a couple of seconds, but the line she speaks – “They’ll never even find what’s left of you” – means her character’s probably only going to get more entertaining to watch.
7. Arya
Looks like Arya might have finally made it across the ocean to somewhere she can really start honing her fighting skills – valar morghulis.
8. Jonathan Pryce
Yes, that was Jonathan Pryce’s voice you heard – that’s right, the dude currently playing Cardinal Wolsey in Wolf Hall. He’s a pretty staunchly good actor, so we’re looking forward to seeing his face pop up in GOT.
9. “Who said anything about him?”
Varys coming out for the female possible future rulers of Westeros (plus that teeny tiny glimpse of dragon).
10. The ‘Pulling the Statue Down’ scene
Can’t wait to see what that’s going to portend.
