The re-make of the original Resident Evil will be released on current and next-gen consoles, Capcom announced yesterday.
Originally released in 1996, Resident Evil was re-made in 2002 and was released exclusively on the Gamecube. It earned critical acclaim and is seen as one of the best in the series.
Capcom will be updating the title to be released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 in early 2015.
Taking place in Raccoon City, players will choose between controlling either Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine, both STARS team members, and must locate the whereabouts of a missing Bravo team in a mansion after being attacked by a group of mutated dogs.
The title will feature resolution enhancement and 3D model technology, upgraded resolutions and textures, including 1080p on next-gen consoles.
Sound effects have been full remastered with 5.1 surround support and players can select between classic 4:3 ratio or 16:9 widescreen. The classic control scheme remains also.
Screenshots from current-gen consoles were also released, as shown below.
