Ubisoft today revealed Watch Dogs has sold more than 4 million copies.
The company announced their hacker-thriller sold-through more than 4 million copies in just its first week, setting the record for best-selling new IP at launch across the video game industry.
It previously broke the record for the biggest release in Ubisoft’s history.
“With such strong stales momentum and positive feedback from gamers, Watch Dogs has positioned itself as the must-have game of the moment,” said Tony Key, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
“We’re really proud of this achievement, and are confident that the Watch Dogs brand has a promising future.”
Set in Chicago, you play as Aiden Pearce, a hacker and former thug, who’s criminal past lead to a violent family tragedy. Whilst seeking justice for those events, you’ll monitor and hack those around you by manipulating the ctOS from the palm of your hand.
Earning critical acclaim worldwide, Watch Dogs released on May 27th for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
A release on Wii U is expected in the fall of 2014.
