Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor release date announced

The release date for Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor has been officially announced.

Via a brand new story trailer, shown above, the upcoming Lord of the Rings based fantasy title will be hitting shelves on October 7th in America.

No release date for Europe was announced but is speculated to be 3 days later on Friday the 10th October.

Also, Warner Bros. announced that players who pre-order the game will gain access to The Dark Ranger exclusive bonus pack which includes a new character skin that embodies Talion’s – the game’s protagonist – dark side.

Also available will be the Test of Power challenge mode, which players will face Sauron’s captains and defeat them to earn powerful runes and gain a head start in the game.

Players will also gain access to exclusive leaderboards for the challenge mode.

Set in Middle Earth, you’ll play as Talion, a valiant ranger who, moments before his own death, witnesses his family slain the night Sauron and his army return to Mordor. Ressurected by a spirit of vengeance, and powered with Wraith abilities, Tailon ventures into Mordor to exact his revenge, whilst learning about the spirit that compels him and the rings of power.

Players will also be able to form enemies through their own actions and decisions, enabling them to create their own battles and rewards thanks to the game’s unique “Nemesis” system.

It is being developed by Monolith Productions, developers of the F.E.A.R and Condemned series, in collaboration with Middle-earth Enterprises. Peter Jackson and artists from Weta Workshop, who worked on the film adaptation of the Academy Award winning Lord of the Rings trilogy, are also lending a helping hand with settings, characters and story.

Warner Bros. Interactive, the publishers, previously released a walkthrough trailer detailing the game and it was announced last month that their won’t be any multiplayer for the game.
