Happy Valentine’s, y’all – and if you couldn’t care less about Valentine’s, perhaps you’ll care that today is the day the second season of House of Cards is let loose on Netflix.
The first season of the show drew huge critical acclaim, including nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations with wins in cinematography, casting, and directing for David Fincher, and four nominations at the Golden Globes including best actor for Kevin Spacey, and Best Actress for Robin Wright (which she won).
An adaptation of a 1990 BBC drama starring Ian Richardson, the series centres on politician Frank Underwood (Spacey) and his wife Claire (Wright) as they grease their way up the political pole. The new season picks up where we might expect, just after Frank has been made Vice President.
Season 2 is now available to view on Netflix in its entirety, so draw the curtains, crank up the TV/laptop, and if you’ve got a date tell them to bring over some popcorn, and sharpish.
