Crystal Dynamics’ spectacular reboot of Tomb Raider will be released for Mac users tomorrow, Feral Interactive announced today.
From January 23rd, Mac users will be able to play the critically acclaimed action-adventure game for £34.99 in the UK and $49.99 in US. The game will be available for direct download via the Mac App store on January 23rd and the Feral Interactive store, and other stores, on January 30th.
A steam account will be required if players wish to access the highly praised multiplayer mode. Multiplayer will not be available for copies purchased through the Mac App store.
Tomb Raider tells a gripping origin story of protagonist Lara Croft, a young, recent graduate archaeologist who embarks on a trip to discover the location of Yamatai, a lost kingdom just off the coast of Japan.
Along with Dr. James Whitman, another archaeologist who is leading the expedition, the crew head deep into what’s known as the Dragon’s Triangle and get entangled in a vicious storm and they crash land on an isolated island, all separated from each other. Lara has to fight her way through the island to locate her friends and escape the island.
Launching back in March 2013, the game went on to receive critical acclaim worldwide for its incredibly detailed environments, its emotional & immersive story and the performance of Camilla Luddington, who plays Lara Croft.
Winning over 40 end of year awards, Tomb Raider was also nominated for numerous Game of the Year awards.
3.4 million copies were sold during its first month, making it the biggest opening for a game at that time, and has sold over 4 million copies as of August 2013.
