[dropcap]S[/dropcap]EGA America, SEGA Europe and Twentieth Century Fox are partnering up to release a first-person survival horror game based on Alien.
Titled “Alien: Isolation”, the game will be based on the 1979 Alien film, directed by Ridley Scott, and is due for release in late 2014 on next-gen and current-gen consoles along with a release on PC. It is to be developed by Creative Assembly.
Describing the game as “thrilling”, the press release noted that the game will enable players to capture “the horror and tension” of the 1979 cult phenomenon.
Playing as Amanda Ripley, in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger as an unpredictable, players will have to evade the ruthless Xenomorph as it stalks and kills deep in the shadows of a decommissioned trading station in the fringes of space. Players must scavenge for resources to succeed the mission and evade death.
Alistair Hope, Creative Lead at Creative Assembly, said: “In Alien: Isolation, we have taken the series back to the roots of Ridley Scott’s 1979 movie, the original survival horror. Our Alien is a truly terrifying creature, as intelligent as he is hostile, relentless, brutal and unstoppable. This is the Alien game fans of the series have always wanted.”
President of Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, Jeffrey Godsick, called the game a “truly incredible game”. “Creative Assembly has created a truly incredible gaming experience, capturing perfectly the very core of what has made the Alien franchise remain relevant after 35 years,” he said.
“This partnership has led to the creation of a game that is simply outstanding and sets the tone for what is to come this year for the 35thanniversary of Alien.”
