[dropcap]2[/dropcap]K Sports have announced that they have dropped MLB 2K, deciding not to renew the series.
Reports began surfacing late Monday night that 2K Sports dropped the series after publisher Take-Two Interactive withdrew all traces of its MLB 2K games from the internet including listings on their official website, the 2K forums and the MLB 2K Facebook account.
Following the reports, a 2K Sports representative provided a statement to Polygon regarding the series, saying: “We have decided not to renew our MLB 2K series for 2014.
“We are very proud of the achievements made by the MLB 2K team and look forward to their contributions to our future titles, including NBA 2K — our industry’s #1 rated and #1 selling basketball franchise.”
The series, which launched in 2004 originally as ESPN Major League Baseball 2K4, released its latest instalment, MLB 2K13, in March 2013 and was critically panned worldwide.
