Highlander Reboot gets a Director

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he new Highlander reboot finally has a director; according to Deadline, Summit Entertainment has chosen Cedric Nicolas-Troyan as the director of the long awaited film.

Nicolas-Troyan is perhaps best known for his work as a Visual Effects supervisor on films such as Snow White and the Huntsman. The Highlander reboot will be his directorial debut and it will be interesting to see what he does with the project.

The first Highlander movie was directed in 1986 by Russell Mulcahy and it became a cult hit. It starred Christopher Lambert as a Scotsman called Connor McLeod who one day discovers he is immortal and rather difficult to kill. He eventually learns that there are others on Earth who are also immortal like him. Deadline mentioned that the new reboot will remain very faithful to the original, which is good to hear. Highlander (1986) was ahead of its time, and also a fairly unique fantasy film.

Art Macum and Matt Holloway, who co-wrote Iron Man, are writing the script for this reboot. The film is scheduled to be released in 2014 so eager fans should look out for it.
