[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he next-generation console PlayStation 4 has already sold over 1 million units in North America, according to tweets from the president of Sony Worldwide Studios.
The much anticipated PlayStation 4 was released last Friday in North America and according to Shuhei Yoshida has already sold 1 million units to customers. Writing on Twitter, he said: “PS4 has sold through over 1 million units within 24 hours of the launch in North America!”
Sony Vice President of Publisher and Developer Relations, Adam Boyes, also confirmed the amount of units sold, also writing on Twitter: “Thanks to all of you gamers in getting us to 1,000,000 sales of PS4 in our first 24 hours!”
Sony, the developers of the PlayStation 4, announced back in August that the next-generation console had over 1 million pre-orders. According to IGN, Sony Computer Entertainment president, Andrew House, said the company is hoping to sell 5 million PlayStation 4 consoles by March 2014.
Whilst the launch of the PS4 has been well received by critics and gamers alike, some gamers have reported problems with the console regarding a blue flashing light that is already being labeled as the “blue light of death”.
The supposed blue light apparently blinks continuously signifying a problem. When the PS4 is set up properly, the blue light should change to white, according to Digital Spy. Sony have, however, already provided a help guide to solve such problems.
The PS4 launches in Europe on November 29th.
