This week’s hot news…
- With the success of its Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Disney is looking to its other theme park rides for inspiration for new films. The latest ride to be considered, after The Haunted Mansion and Magic Kingdom, is Matterhorn. Resembling the Swiss mountains, it is thought the film will be called The Hill and will feature Yetis… it is unconfirmed whether either Johnny Depp or Jack Sparrow will appear.
- Tom Hanks cryptically signalled that a fourth Toy Story may happen. With current screenings of Cars 2 already featuring a Toy Story short, the news only aids TS4 rumours. Whilst promoting new film Larry Crowne, Hanks was asked about the posibility of Woody and co. reappearing in cinemas. His response was positive and he added ‘I think they’re working on it now’.
- Despite its critical reception (hey, we liked it), Green Lantern is set to have a sequel. Michael Goldenberg was hired back in 2010 to pen a sequel and, if Green Lantern’s mediocre performance (we say mediocre, but we wouldn’t sniff at $118 million) continues it may not be the last we see of him.
- We were given the first trailer for Tomas Alfredson’s adaptation of Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, Spy and boy, does it look good. Click here to watch the trailer.
- Green Lantern wont be the only superhero to return to cinemas… Thor is set to return in another solo film in 2013.
