The highly anticipated The Last Guardian finally has a release date following it’s much controversial production.
Sony announced during E3 the fantasy adventure title would launch on October 25th, 2016 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
The Last Guardian follows a young boy in a strange and mystical land as he discovers a mysterious creature with which he forms a deep, unbreakable bond. The unlikely pair must rely on each other to journey through towering, treacherous ruins filled with unknown dangers.
The release date announcement will bring much relief to fans following what has been a highly controversial and much-talked production.
Originally announced back in 2009, the game has been stuck in development at Team ICO for years.
Over the past year Sony have had to address reports that the game had been cancelled, assuring fans that the title was still in development.
Previously Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida had to clarify that if the game did get cancelled “we’ll say so”.
He later admitted that The Last Guardian “probably” would’ve been cancelled had fans stopped asking for updates regarding to the title’s release.
