The movie adaptation of The Last of Us is stuck in “development hell”, according to the film’s writer.
Speaking at a press event, Neil Druckmann who wrote the 2013 survival-thriller video game, and is the writer for the film adaptation, told IGN.com that the movie based on The Last of Us hasn’t been touched in over a year and a half.
He said, “I know I said in an interview a while back we had a table read, got the script to a good place and it kind of entered development hell like these things tend to do.”
“There hasn’t been any work done on it in over a year and a half.”
A film adaptation of The Last of Us was first revealed in 2014 when Screen Gems signed on to distribute the film, Neil Druckmann signed on to write the script, and Spider-Man director Sam Raimi was attached to direct.
Druckmann also offered an update on the Uncharted film adaptation currently in development.
