After a star studded (and rather eventful) night we’re left wondering – should the MTV Movie awards be renamed the Twilight Awards?
Receiving the Golden Popcorns for the biggest categories it looked as though the night was all about Twilight – not to mention Robert Pattinson dropping the F word on live television leaving audiences a little lost for words. His potty mouth seemed to be trumped however by Reese Witherspoon who went on to use it herself in her acceptance speech for the MTV Generation Award.
The MTV Movie Awards lived up to expectations; there was controversial kisses, amazing music performances and a new reason for men to dislike Justin Timberlake. Not only is he talented and successful, dated some of the most beautiful women in Hollywood and is incredibly rich, he also managed tp grope grope Mila Kunis and get away with it – she even groped him back, the lucky man.
Another controversy came when Robert Pattinson lent into the crowd to plant a kiss on a member of the audience. Who was the receiver of his affections? Taylor Lautner, his The Twilight Saga Eclipse co-star.
The host, funny man Jason Sudeilkis, did a good job of keeping the show rolling and making fun of the celebs who attended, even fitting in a musical number with Emma Stone that is sure to do the rounds on YouTube. When it comes to musical performances however what could be more enjoyable than listening to some good old fashioned rock in the form of the Foo Fighters? Them being welcomed on stage by Jim Carey in a green suit, that’s what. The comedy legend welcomed the band on stage wearing a bright green two piece suit complete with shirt. He was a walking green screen. The suit will be auctioned off a charity yet to be named.
In an night full of fun and laughter there were also trailer premiers for the summer’s biggest movies. A Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 teaser clip was screened showing Voldermort cursing the bespectacled hero. JJ Abrahams Super 8 screened another teaser trailer, whetting the appetite of the already excited audience for his latest movie. MTV also showed off some of its new Teen Wolf series.
If you didn’t manage to catch the awards here is a run down of who won the Golden Popcorns:
Best Male Performance: Robert Pattinson, The Twilight Saga Eclipse. It must have been a slow year for male actors if his depressing turn as a vampire could win this.
Best Villain: Tom Felton, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1. He must have cast some sort of spell as he didn’t seem much of a villain but more the tag along in this movie.
Best Jaw Dropping Moment: Justin Bieber, Never Say Never. It is jaw dropping that he won this. Never Say Sequel.
Biggest Bad Ass: Chloe Grace Moretz, Kick Ass. I would make a comment but she deserved it and she would probably kick my ass.
Best Break Out Star: Chloe Grace Moretz, Kick Ass. Another deserved win. She was 12 when they filmed Kick Ass and did most of her own stunts. Plus that little girl struck fear into the heart of most watching.
Best Fight: Robert Pattinson, Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel, The Twilight Saga Eclipse. In a fight that looked to be somewhat inspired by Transformers 2’s fight in the woods with trees being uprooted just not as good.
Best Kiss: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, The Twilight Saga Eclipse. They won because there wasn’t a Spider-Man-hanging-upside-down scene to give it to.
MTV Generation Award: Reese Witherspoon. Another deserved winner. She has been making movies for a while and has given some great performances.
Best Line From A Movie: ‘I want to get chocolate wasted’ Alexys Nyole Sanchez, Grown Ups. An incredibly funny line said with such innocence. A surprise but deserved winner.
Best Scared As Sh*t Performance: Ellen Page, Inception. A terrifyingly good performance.
Best Female Performance: Kristen Stewart, The Twilight Saga Eclipse. Zzzzzz. Huh? Sorry, must have dozed off.
Best Comedic Performance: Emma Stone, Easy A. It is good to see a truly talented and funny actress winning this fan favourite award.
Best Movie: The Twilight Saga Eclipse. Sorry were there no other films made?
