Final Fantasy VII for PlayStation was eighteen years ago, three generations of PlayStation consoles have gone by since then and now the classic title is getting a remake.
During Sony’s press conference at this year’s E3, Square Enix announced that the Final Fantasy VII would be re-made for PlayStation 4 with key members of the original returning.
Yoshinori Kitase, producer, Tetsuya Nomura, director, and Kazushige Nojima, scenario writer, will all return to work on the re-make.
First released in 1997, Final Fantasy VII is universally regarded as a hallmark title of the RPG genre. The original title received high praise for its storyline, unique characters, and movie sequences that utilized the most cutting-edge technology of the time.
Since then, the game has sold over 11 million copies worldwide and continues to receive widespread acclaim from critics and fans around the world. The popular game has even expanded into spin-offs, and films.
An official release window and title are yet to be announced.
