“Several surprises” are planned for next year, the developer of Just Cause has revealed.
Avalanche Studios recently sent an email to Video Gamer and they said that 2015 “is set to be the biggest year since the inception of [the studio] more than a decade ago”.
“Next year, players will be able to roam the lethal open-world wasteland of Mad Max,” they wrote.
“In addition theHunter is on a record breaking streak. More than a million players have signed up for the world’s most realistic wildlife experience since the Steam introduction this year, bringing the total number to over 4 million.”
“Avalanche Studios also has several surprises planned for next year,” they teased.
A third installment in the Just Cause series has been rumored to be in production, and these rumors were furthered earlier this year upon the discovery of a domain registration by Square Enix, publishers, for justcause3game.com.
They would later state that the registration of the domain was “just routine IP management activity”.
The company also registered a Just Cause 4 domain back in 2012 but made no official announcement.
The first Just Cause game launched in 2006 to positive reviews and as of 2009 has sold over 1 million copies.
A sequel, Just Cause 2, released 4 years later also to positive reception and sold over 6 million copies as of September 2013.
