Mario Kart 8 update to add 3 Mercedes-Benz cars

Three new Mercedes-Benz cars are to be added to Mario Kart 8 in its next update, Nintendo have revealed.

A software update on August 27th will be released for the racing title on Wii U and will feature 3 downloadable Mercedes-Benz cars including: the modern Mercedes-Benz GLA, the 200 SL Roadster from the 1950s and the Silver Arrow of the 1930s.

The GLA model will also feature special wheel options whilst all 3 cars will be customizable.

Other enhancements included in the update include the option to display the course map on the screen during races and be able to check statistics such as total number of coins accumulated, win-loss record from online play, and most frequently selected character overall.

Also included is the ability to change options of others’ Mario Kart TV downloaded highlight reels, remember the most recent customized kart settings, and the order of the menu after each race will be changed to “Next Race” followed “Watch Highlight Reel”.

Nintendo and Mercedes-Benz will also be hosting an online worldwide “Mercedes Cup” tournament from August 27th to September 23rd.

Players will need a Wii U console, Mario Kart 8, a broadband Internet connection and the Mercedes-Benz karts to be eligible to enter.

The tournament will be available via the in-game online tournament section.
