Super couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are set to star alongside each other in By the Sea, which Jolie will also write and direct.
The last time that Jolie and Pitt were cast together in a movie (Mr and Mrs Smith in 2005) they ended up embarking on a whirlwind romance that would cement them as Hollywood royalty. Since then both actors have continued to forge ahead with their careers, with Jolie in particular distinguishing herself as a special envoy for the UN, and as a director in her own right.
She directed her first feature, The Land of Blood and Honey, in 2011, and her second, Unbroken, is due to hit UK cinemas on December 26th 2014.
Universal Pictures Chairperson Donna Langley commented “Angelina and Brad represent two of Hollywood’s brightest talents, and we are excited to be a part of their collaboration on this powerful piece.”
By the Sea is said to be an ‘intimate, character driven drama’, most likely with a central romantic element, and is to be shot on location in Malta.
