Star Wars: Episode VII – Harrison Ford breaks ankle during filming

You can make him jump off a dam, you can throw him out of a plane in a rubber dinghy (and then over a waterfall), and you can even shut him in a fridge and then chuck a nuclear bomb at him, and he’ll still come out of it relatively unharmed. However, this week has shown that even Harrison Ford isn’t completely unbreakable, as news has reached us that the actor has injured his ankle during filming for Star Wars: Episode VII.

Apparently the injury was caused by the door of that rusty old bucket of bolts, the Millennium Falcon.

In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, Disney confirmed,

“Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates.”

THR also report that a source ‘close to production’ confirmed that Ford’s ankle is in fact broken.

It’s good to hear that shooting (which is currently taking place in the UK) will not be halted by Ford’s injury – nevertheless, fingers crossed for his quick recovery.
