Paramount has announced they will be releasing documentary Turtle Power alongside Jonathan Liebesman’s new feature length take on the franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The doc, which is the brainchild of fans Isaac Elliott-Fisher, Mark Hussey and Randall Lobb, features interviews with Turtles creators Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, as well as Steve Barron, who directed the first live action Turtles movie in 1990. The trio also interviewed Brian Henson (son of Jim Henson), who worked on the costumes for the 1990 film (and also Farscape and various Muppet related projects. He was also the voice of Hoggle in Labyrinth – who knew?).
Elliott-Fisher, Hussey and Lobb also documented themselves as they were making the film. They have been working on it since 2008, as well as holding down day jobs, so Turtle Power is sure to be a true fan made labour of love.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released in the UK on October 17th 2014, while Turtle Power will go straight to DVD in the US on August 12th, and presumably a little later in the UK.
