Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, a new video game based on Transformers, has been announced by Activision.
The game, a complement to the upcoming Transformers: Age of Extinction movie releasing in June, will be a third-person action-adventure game which will act as a follow up to Age of Extinction and Activision’s previous Transformers video game titles, War For Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron.
With a choice from over 40 playable characters from two different universes, players will be able to play as either the Autobots or the Decepticons throughout the single-player campaign.
As well as the single-player campaign, multiplayer will be available. A mode called “Escalation” sees players battle wave-based, survival-style game players capable of hosting four players online. It also featured new, upgradable defence systems and expanded roster of playable characters from past and present.
Activision also released five screenshots, shown below.
“Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark is an arc between the Cybertron and Earth based worlds of this popular franchise,” said Mark Blecher, SVP Digital Gaming & Corporate Development at Hasbro, Inc in a press release.
“This year marks 30 incredible years of Transformers. This game tells another chapter in the Transformers story that all fans will love.”
The game will be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PC.
