[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he nominations for the 14th annual Game Developers Choice Awards have been announced.
The Game Developers Choice Awards take place on March 19th at 6:30pm in San Francisco at the Moscone Center during the 2014 Game Developers Conference and alongside the Independent Games Festival Awards.
Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us and Rockstar Game’s Grand Theft Auto V will battle it out once again for Game of the Year whilst Tomb Raider, Gone Home, and Super Mario 3D World also provide stiff competition.
The Last of Us are up for four other awards for Best Design, Best Narrative, Best Visual Art and Best Technology whilst GTA V are up three other awards for Best Design, Best Audio and Best Technology.
Joining The Last of Us with five nominations as well is Media Molecule’s Tearaway – for Best Handheld/Mobile Game, Innovation, Best Visual Art, Best Audio and Best Technology – and The Fullbright Company’s Gone Home – for Game of the Year, Innovation, Best Debut, Best Narrative and Best Downloadable Game.
Crystal Dynamic’s impressive reboot of Tomb Raider earned three nominations for Game of the Year, Best Design and Best Design whilst Nintendo’s Super Mario 3D World and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds also gained nominations for Best Design and Best Handheld/Mobile Game.
Other games such as Papers, Please, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, DEVICE 6, The Stanley Parable, Saint’s Row IV, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Ridicolous Fishing, Bioshock Infinite, DmC, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Forza Motorsport V, Resogun, Killzone: Shadow Fall and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag all hold nominations in several categories.
