[dropcap]A[/dropcap] brand new trailer for the next instalment in the Batman video game universe has been released.
Warner Brothers Interactive released the new trailer titled “Personal Mission” on Wednesday and featured the main villain of the game Black Mask bringing chaos to the city of Gotham as Batman fights his way through mortal enemies and hired goons to try to stop him.
Set before the events of previous instalments of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Origins focuses on Batman’s second year as a vigilante crime fighter. Still trying to convince Gotham he is fighting for good, he has to fend off the Gotham City Police Department, headed by James Gordon, who believe he is an outlaw all the while having to also fend off goons trying to cash in on a $50 million bounty on Batman placed by Black Mask.
The game also features classic Batman characters such as Alfred, Bane, Joker, Penguin, Killer Croc and many more.
Roger Craig Smith will be portraying Batman, replacing previous lead actor Kevin Conroy whilst Troy Baker takes over from Mark Hamill as Joker. Martin Jarvis returns as Alfred, Michael Gough joins the cast as James Gordon along with Brian Bloom as Black Mask.
The game is the first in the series to not be developed by Asylum and City developers Rocksteady Studios, with Warner Brothers Games Montreal now taking the helm. The game is written by Corey May and Dooma Wendschuh who take over from previous writers Paul Dini, Paul Crocker and Sefton Hill.
Warner Brothers Interactive also released a 17 minute gameplay video on Monday, detailing the features of the game including Batman’s combat ability & detective skills featured in past editions, a look at the locations in the game such as the Batcave and GCPD headquarters, and a selection of many new gadgets for Batman.
Arkham Origins releases worldwide this Friday for Wii U, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
