Hollywood has spoken and the nominees for the 2011 Oscars have been announced!! Are there any surprises? Not really… but that doesn’t mean that the hype will be any less than that of previous years!
Announced at 1.30 GMT (that’s a sleepy 5.30am for the poor Californians presenting the nominations) the pre-ceremony show lacked none of the glamour and pomp of the Oscars. Despite a few mis-haps with reading the auto-cue it went without a hitch and means we can start really speculating…
What do you make of the nominees for the 83rd Academy Awards? Front runners include The King’s Speech, The Social Network, Black Swan, The Fighter and 127 Hours (proving our worries about how James Franco would fare as host if nominated were justified). Christopher Nolan also got a nod from the Hollywood big wigs with Inception after being rather over-looked last year whilst Toy Story 3 is set to win the Best Animation gong.
The more technical nominations largely reflect the glitzy nominations that overshadow them. Here’s a list of the big nominations – have your say as to who you think should win!! We’ll announce your opinions just before they’re announced in Hollywood on 27th February!!
