[dropcap]T[/dropcap]weeting. Most of us have been guilty of doing it at least once by now, but it seems to be particularly popular with the rich and famous, enabling us mere mortals to delve into the mind-set of any megastar you care to mention. The latest big name to bare his soul is that much-celebrated tough-guy actor, Sylvester Stallone.
In a tweet with a spelling mistake that Rocky would have been proud of, Sly recently posted: “A young Sigorney Weaver anywhere out there?” This is, as the Rambo star has hinted on Twitter in the past, in relation to Expendables 3, the inevitable next step for the franchise. Previously Stallone had kept fans tantalised with “Calling SEAGAL”, but in terms of new recruits this was always on the cards.
A young Sigorney Weaver anywhere out there?

Adding a feminine touch to proceedings would be a radical new twist on a format that already has a cult following of epic proportions. Maybe Sly was inspired by the likes of Iron Man 3 and Avengers Assemble going boldly down this road. Whatever, a young SIGOURNEY Weaver would be a more than welcome addition. So who would fit the bill? Two names that sprang instantly to this Rooblaer’s mind were Milla Jovovich and Charlize Theron, as both have previous form in the don’t-mess-with-me stakes. Jovovich proved her worth as Alice in Resident Evil, whilst Theron was more than a match for Will Smith’s Hancock. Back in 2005, Theron also played the title role in the disastrous Aeon Flux, but we’ll let her off.
Hang on just a cotton-picking minute I hear you cry, why not just cast good old Sigourney herself? Why not indeed, after all she will forever be remembered as the gutsy Ellen Ripley in the Alien films, which at the very least makes her the equal of Arnold Schwarzenegger in his Predator days. Plus Arnie, like most of the Expendables gang, has, shall we say, seen better days, so why not a 63-year-old Weaver; still strong, still sassy.
And let’s face it; what more would an Expendables heroine need to put the boys in their place? Something Sly himself probably knows only too well.
