[dropcap]D[/dropcap]isney-Pixar has announced that the sequel to their 2003 smash hit Finding Nemo will be titled Finding Dory, and will be released in November 2015. This time, the eponymous star of the show will be Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres), the blue tang fish with a serious memory problem.
If you’re finding it hard to believe that it’s already been a decade since the release of Finding Nemo, you’re certainly not alone (just don’t simultaneously try to get your head around Jurassic Park turning 20 this year…let’s face it, we may as well just give up now and spend the rest of our lives reminiscing about having to rewind VHS tapes with a pencil). What’s even more astonishing is that it has taken Disney-Pixar this long to come up with the goods, considering the immense popularity of Finding Nemo.
Whatever their reasons for stalling (OK, so they were a little tied up with The Incredibles, WALL E, Toy Story 3, Brave and the rest), we’re not going to have to wait for too much longer. DeGeneres has voiced her excitement at returning to her vocal role:
“The script is fantastic. It has everything I loved about the first one: a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is it’s got a lot more Dory.”
No plot details have been revealed as of yet, other than that the action will take place one year after the events of Finding Nemo. However, we can assume that the story will be driven by the need to find Dory, who will no doubt have got herself into yet another underwater scrape.
There’s no film quite like a Disney-Pixar film, and we’re already quivering with anticipation – but what we really want to know is, will there be a cameo from Squishy?
