[dropcap]D[/dropcap]anny Boyle has revealed he would like to shoot the Trainspotting follow-up, Porno, in 2016, with the original cast.
Boyle has long played with the idea of bringing Irvine Welsh’s sequel to Trainspotting, Porno, to the big screen. Now he gives news that he plans to shoot the sequel in 2016, with the original cast and writer John Hodge. Boyle is confident he can bring back the likes of Ewan McGregor (Renton), Jonny Lee Miller (Sick Boy), Ewen Bremner (Spud) and Robert Carlyle (Begbie), which is very exciting news indeed.
Speaking to The Playlist, Boyle explained, “This has been a long time coming, there’s always been this long term plan for Trainspotting 2, if John can produce a decent enough script, I don’t think there will be any barriers to Ewan or any of the cast coming back,” he continued “I think they’ll wanna know that the parts are good so they don’t feel like they are letting anyone down.”
Boyle was clear on his reasons for finally making the sequel, “The reason for doing it again is that people cherish the original, people remember it or have caught up with it if they never saw because they were younger. So you want to make sure you don’t disappoint people. That will be the only criteria I think.”
Boyle is a very busy man of late, with Trance out on April 5th, he will also be bringing his own brand of madness to the period drama. He plans to make two films in the genre, one adapted from a yet-to-be-named book and another from an original screenplay written by Hodge. However, Porno will take priority, with Boyle hoping for it to arrive in 2016 – 20 years after Trainspotting ran onto our screens.
