She was once Rolling in the Deep, but now Adele will be Skyfalling into history as she signs up to sing the theme to the new James Bond film.
The Tottenham-loving songstress has confirmed that she will be belting out the theme by posting a picture of the song credits on Twitter. The picture shows the cover of the sheet music, simply featuring the names A. Adkins and P. Epworth, who co-wrote her hit Rolling in the Deep.
The track entitled Skyfall will be her first release since Turning Tables in 2011. In the time since, she has embarked on a new chapter in her life: motherhood. On June 29th she announced that she was pregnant with her first child.
Now the lure of Bond has prompted her to put aside thoughts of nurseries and get back to entertaining us all with her enchanting vocals.
She follows in illustrious footsteps, most notably those of Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner and of course Sheryl Crow and Madonna, in taking the reins of the iconic theme. The singer has said:
“I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song.”
Adele almost let it slip late last year on the Jonathan Ross show when she said “Well this is actually a theme, what I’ve got to do for, um… Wow. That’s really giving something away isn’t it?” But she had never fully confirmed it, until now.
The song will premiere on her website at 0.07 5th October BST, so set your alarms if you want to hear it first. The film will be released 26th October. It’s shaping up to be a good month for Bond fans.
