[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ony have taken round two in the battle of the next generation consoles.
According to a report by MCV, the PlayStation 4 has outsold its competitor Xbox One by 166,000 consoles. The data, supplied by ERA, revealed that the PS4 sold 530,000 units in the UK compared to Xbox One’s 364,000 consoles sold.
The PS4 also made £181,8 million in the UK whilst Xbox One trailed just behind with £144.5 million.
ERA Director General, Kim Bayley, said: “Games continues to deliver digital sales strongly, but it was disappointing that Xbox One and PS4 came so late in 2013 and then huge demand meant stock sold out quickly. Retailers will be working hard in 2014 to maintain the sales momentum of these two great new pieces of kit.”
Earlier this month, PlayStation 4 was announced as the top-selling console for November. Both Sony and Microsoft had previously revealed that they had sold more than 2 million units since launch.
