Draws galore at the darts in Brighton

Unprecedented four draws in the Premier League, as Klaasen is the only winner

Before Thursday night you would have got long odds on four draws, but what we got was a fantastic nights entertainment on the south coast.

Jelle Klaasen was the only winner last night and it was a huge result for the Dutchman, as he picked up his first points of the campaign to move off the bottom of the table. He was a comfortable 7-3 winner over an out of sorts Dave Chisnall who failed to register a maximum in the match. Chizzy fell to the bottom of the table on leg difference with both men now on two points.

Next up Michael Van Gerwen and Adrian Lewis put on the match of the night, in what most had thought looked a certain win for Mighty Mike. Lewis hit a brilliant 170 checkout to break before MVG stormed back to lead 6-5. It was then Van Gerwen’s turn to look for the 170 finish, but his shot at the bull for the match just went into the green of the 25 allowing Lewis to clean up and split the points.

Gary Anderson fought back from 5-1 down to draw with James Wade, who remains unbeaten but could conceivably have won all of his four games so far. Both though remain in a strong position in the table.

Phil Taylor and Kym Huybrechts have had a love hate relationship over the last few years and this continued in Brighton. The Belgian appeared to be on course for his first TV win against the Power, but missed darts for the match before Taylor pounced and celebrated as if he had won another world crown.

In the final match of the night Raymond Van Barneveld and Peter Wright also entertained. Snakebite looked set to go joint top of the table, but Barney won the final two legs including a 170 checkout in the 12th to earn a point.

All in all a night no one could have predicted and with Klaasen’s win the table looks tighter than it did before, five weeks left until the bottom two are eliminated.
