Premier League Darts: Week 4 Preview – Brighton

The weekly Darts party heads south this week, as the sports star players head to Brighton for week four of the Premier League.

As we near the the half-way stage of the first part of the competition those at the bottom need points quickly if they are to avoid being cut adrift.

Two such players are Dave Chisnall and Jelle Klaasen. Chisnall picked up his first points of the campaign last week with victory over fellow struggler Kym Huybrechts and he will fancy his chances of making it back-to-back wins. Likewise it is a huge opportunity for Klaasen who has played well in the first three weeks, but he is the only player yet to get off the mark. If the Dutchman were to win it would throw the scrap to avoid the bottom two places wide open.

This is partially due to the other two players near the bottom of the table facing the top two this week.

Kym Huybrechts, who only has one point to his name, faces Phil Taylor, a man that has started his campaign fantastically. He overcame rival Raymond Van Barneveld last week to stay joint top of the table on five points. Huybrechts will feel his loss to Chizzy was a missed opportunity and the Hurricane quickly needs results or his campaign could turn sour.

Adrian Lewis has also struggled once again to get going and his Premier League won’t get any easier as he faces Michael Van Gerwen. MVG is looking ominous at the head of the table already and is a huge favourite to be top of the table at the end of the league stage.

James Wade is the third man on five points, as the Machine once again is showing why he has been at the top of the sport for so long. Last week he got the better of Aidy Lewis, but faces the tough test of Gary Anderson in Brighton. Anderson is back on three points after his loss to Peter Wright last week, but this was down to Snakebite’s brilliance.

Wright will hope to continue his good form against Barney, with the two likely to be fighting it out near the end of the campaign for a top four spot. Wright’s form at the start of 2017 has been great despite changing his equipment multiple times. Barney has also started his Premier League well despite the loss to the Power last week. However, I expect a Snakebite in form to be too strong.

Chisnall 6-6 Klaasen

Lewis 2-7 Van Gerwen

Wade 4-7 Anderson

Taylor 7-2 Huybrechts

Wright 7-3 Van Barneveld
