When we heard that our favourite Tom Hardy was on a course to play both of the infamous Kray twins in Legend, directed by Brian Helgeland, we were pretty excited. Now that the first image from the new film has appeared online, our anticipatometer has dinged right up to level ‘hot’.
Feast your eyes on the very cool image above, which shows Hardy as Ronnie (left) and Reggie (right), both attired in some very crisp sixties suits, complete with snazzy frames and a dangling cigarette. We’re loving the dark, gangstery overtones; looks like the beefy, brooding Hardy was probably the perfect choice for the role (or should we say, roles).
The film is to be set in 1960s London, and is based on a book by John Pearson titled The Profession Of Violence.
It’s expected that the film will focus on the attempts of older brother Reggie to curtail his younger brother’s violent streak. Hardy spoke about the challenge of playing both of the twins when he was cast earlier this year.
“I’ve got to work out how to play both twins, which will be fun. It’s another experiment and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself, I just want to have some fun and see what’s out there and explore with the work.”
Legend will also star Emily Browning and Christopher Eccleston, and is expected to be released in 2015.
