[dropcap]A[/dropcap]mex Entertainment offers us a sneak peak behind the scenes of the recently wrapped 57th London Film Festival with this, their look at some of the most acclaimed films screened at the LFF this year – many of which were inspired by true stories.

Lauren Laverne takes a look at some of these films, and speaks to the creatives behind the camera, including Peter Landesman, director of Parkland, a recounting of events that took place at the Parkland Hospital in Dallas on the day JFK was assassinated. We also hear from Stephen Frears and Steve Coogan, director and star (respectively) of Philomena, the moving account of a woman’s search for her son, who was adopted as a baby when she was forced into a convent (starring Judi Dench in the title role). Alison Owen, producer of Saving Mr Banks (which stars Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers, and was also the festival’s closing film) also gives us her views on why cinema audiences find such a deep connection to true stories.

Get an insight into these fascinating films based on true events, all of which will be released across November 2013.
