– It is often thought that Uncle Billy stumbles over trash cans when he leaves George’s house – it was in fact a crew member dropping equipment. They reportedly got paid for the accident as they improved the scene.

– The film was actually filmed in a heatwave!

– The Motion Picture Academy awarded the film with a scientific award for pioneering a new fake snow. Before this film painted cornflakes were often used.

– James Stewart reprised his role in 1949 for a radio version.
