Tearaway is to be released on PlayStation 4, it was revealed yesterday during Gamescom.
The hit PS Vita title will be a “remaining” of the popular title and has been “built from the ground up to take advantage of the enhanced power of the PS4 with the unique features of Dualshock 4 Wireless Controller, with new fourth-wall-busting interactions and a bigger, more beautiful world to explore”.
It will also be retitled as Tearaway Unfolded.
“Now, if you know anything about Tearaway, your first thoughts on hearing that might be: ‘but that’s just plain impossible, yo’ and you’d be right,” Community Manager James Spafford further explained on the PlayStation Blog.
“A straight port would be impossible, but we were super keen for Tearaway to make the jump to PS4 and we’re not the kind of folks to let something like the impossible get in our way. So we started jamming and experimenting, and the result is Tearaway Unfolded – an expanded retelling of the original game adapted for PS4 and rebuilt from the ground up …”
Running at 1080p and targeting 60fps to boot, Unfolded will also allow players to interact with the game using the controller’s touchpad and light bar.
Developed by Media Molecule, Tearaway follows a messenger on a mission to deliver a unique message to you, the player.
It launched in November last year and earned critical acclaim worldwide, winning 3 BAFTA Awards for Best Mobile & Handheld Game, Best Artistic Achievement, and Best Family Game.
